Mandalay -- Woodard, Inc.'s First Wrought Iron And Cast Combo Collection

Furniture World News on

The Mandalay collection signifies Woodard, Inc.'s innovative design and manufacturing capabilities. For the first time, Woodard craftsmen combine wrought iron and cast aluminum to create the distinct look of Mandalay. Introduced by Woodard, Inc. at the International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market, Mandalay's hand-crafted design evokes classic appeal and elegance. The frame of the chair is hand wrought in the Owosso plant using the strongest iron stock available. At the same time, the chair back is constructed in Texas by craftsmen who hand pour hot aluminum into a sand-casted mold. The cast aluminum seat backs are shipped to Owosso where the chair frames and backs are welded together. Joints are cleanly finished creating a smooth and unified appearance. Mandalay is protected with Woodard's patented Metal Guard finish to prevent rusting. Woodard protects the metal with a permanent seal before the final finish is applied and baked to the metal. According to Dean Engelage, Director of Marketing for Woodard, Inc., "We felt that combining wrought iron and cast aluminum would be the best way to produce the Mandalay design. Because there is a limit to the degree iron can be bent, to achieve the detail for the chair back we decided to create the look with cast moldings." Engelage adds, "The cast molding back really adds detail to the collection, giving it the premium look we desired." The Mandalay collection, designed by Herbert Saiger, includes a dining arm chair (with attached or loose cushion), dining side chair (with attached or loose cushion), 48" round dining table, 42" x 74" oval dining table. Mandalay is available in casual furniture stores, traditional furniture stores, pool/patio retailers, fireplace shops and accessory stores. Woodard, Inc., a CC Industries Company, is headquartered in Owosso, Michigan. Woodard, Inc. also has manufacturing facilities in Salisbury, and Maxton, North Carolina and El Paso Texas.
