Noren Promoted To COO At Shoppers Charge Accounts

Shoppers Charge Accounts Co. (SCA) has promoted Robert J. Noren to senior vice president/chief operations officer. He most recently served as senior vice president of credit, customer service and collections. SCA, one of the nation’s largest private label credit card companies, is a division of Hudson United Bank, a subsidiary of Hudson United Bancorp. In his new position as chief operations officer, Noren will continue to direct the company’s credit, customer service and collections areas, while also assuming responsibility for special projects and compliance. He continues to report to SCA president Tom Nelson. Prior to joining SCA in 1997 as vice president of collections, Noren was director of asset management for Sears, Roebuck and Co.’s credit operations in Trevose, Pa., where he was responsible for a staff of over 700 collection managers and collectors. He spent a total of 29 years with Sears Credit, holding positions in credit, collections, customer service, operations and unit management at facilities in New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. A resident of Hazlet, N.J., Noren holds a B.S. degree from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, N.J. SCA, which services independent, regional and national retailers including furniture retailers throughout the U.S., acquires retailers’ receivables or will develop private label credit programs for merchants who currently don’t offer a house charge. In both situations, the firm assumes responsibility for generating customer billing statements; managing credit, collection and lockbox functions; and creating customized marketing programs.
