DeCoro, a global leader in the manufacture of quality leather upholstered furniture, announced the expansion of its sofa production facilities in Shenzhen, China. In just three years, it has become the world’s largest sofa manufacturing operation. With a total area of 350,000 square metres (3,150,000 square feet), the expanded facilities will meet the growing demand for the firm’s leather sofas as well as enable DeCoro to expand production into wood furniture. DeCoro will employ an additional 2,500 full-time workers to meet this rapid growth. With a combined workforce of 5,500, the new facility will allow DeCoro to produce 70-90 containers of furniture each day. At a total investment cost of between US$15 million to US$20 million, the construction of the new facility will start in February and is expected to be completed in November of this year. “We are seeing increasing demand for our products, especially after the last High Point market show in the United States. It was the biggest High Point show ever for us,” said Luca Ricci, DeCoro’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The expansion of our sofa manufacturing facilities is another commitment to all our customers around the world and demonstrates our passion to grow our company to continue to produce world-class leather sofas as well as enter into new product areas.” About DeCoro: DeCoro was founded in 1997 by Luca Ricci. The company has revolutionized the leather furniture industry by pioneering new production standards and making quality Italian furniture at previously unachievable prices. Today, it is a global leader and the first successful producer of quality Italian upholstered furniture in Asia with a presence in key markets across five continents. The state-of-the-art factory in Shenzhen, China was officially opened in April 2003. For more information, visit www.DeCoro.com.
