Capel Rugs Reports Excellent High Point Market Traffic

Capel Rugs, America's oldest and largest privately-owned importer and manufacturer of area rugs announced that it saw no decline in traffic despite the weak economy at the recent High Point Market held October 20-26. Celebrating its 25th anniversary at the Market Square location, Capel Rug sales representatives credited their new marketing emphasis on value-priced rugs and relaxed price points. "Our dealers that came in were buying and the traffic count was at the same level as last October," said Allen Robertson, Capel's vice president of sales. "We responded to our customers and the market by anticipating that buyers would gravitate toward value-priced products at all price points." Robertson said Capel recognized the impact the weak economy has had on the home furnishing industry and offered a wide line of new collections and aggressively-priced machine-made rugs. He said they remained ahead of the curve by rolling out products at relaxed price points that showcase different styles from traditional to contemporary. "We made retailers an offer they couldn't refuse," Robertson said. Visitors to Capel's High Point showroom saw a mix of cutting-edge designs and re-interpretations of traditional favorites in new constructions. Also, Capel showcased fresh, new looks in contemporary and traditional styles at starting price points with the Metropolitan collection. New additions in the Capel Kidz category showcased playful designs and bright colorways, and new additions in the leather category revealed some of Capel's latest transitional offerings. Capel's Great American Gas Giveaway Capel Rugs gave showroom visitors a chance to "fuel your buying power" with a series of drawings over the seven-day event. Nine winners received gas cards valued at $50 and $100 each, along with one individual who was awarded an entire year of free gas. Capel Features Best Up-and-Coming Design Talent Last spring, Capel held a design competition to encourage innovation in design among North Carolina's up-and-coming design leaders. Students from North Carolina State University's (NCSU) College of Design submitted designs exploring contemporary color, balance and composition.
