To mark the 100th Anniversary of the High Point Market this Spring, the High Point Market Authority is introducing a special insignia that will appear in a variety of marketing materials, as well as signage throughout the downtown Market area. The centennial celebration insignia features the now-familiar multi-branched tree astride a banner emblazoned with the years 1909-2009, supported by the words “100 Years New.” According to Brian D. Casey, president and chief executive of the High Point Market Authority, the insignia honors the High Point Market’s early history and the case goods makers who essentially planted the seed for Market 100 years ago this coming Spring, while speaking to the Market’s relevance in the future and its forward-looking position. “For 100 years, High Point has been an active, viable Market and an industry leader,” Casey says. “Since the very first Market took place here in the Spring of 1909, the High Point Market has gained a worldwide reputation as the place to experience the newest ideas in home furnishings. As the Market with more new product premieres than any other, High Point has become known as the launching pad for the trends that shape our culture and our homes season after season, year after year. As the only Market that brings together the entire home furnishings community, it has also become the vital center of the industry, with a concentration of resources that form a firm foundation for the future success of our industry.” Indeed, Casey notes, “We see the 100th anniversary of the High Point Market as an opportunity to look forward as well as back, in a year-long celebration of the products, people and ideas that have coalesced over the decades into the world’s premier Market in the world’s home for home furnishings.” The High Point Market Authority is the official sponsor of the High Point Market in High Point, North Carolina. Featuring an extensive selection of exhibitors spanning every category, style and price point and attracting thousands of visitors from more than 110 countries twice each year, the High Point Market is the driving force of the home furnishings industry.
