AICO Hosts City of Hope Blood Mobile

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, full-line furniture manufacturer AICO / Amini Innovation Corp hosted a blood drive at their corporate office in conjunction with City of Hope.

The City of Hope Blood Mobile was stationed at the AICO Corp Headquarters from 9am - 3pm accepting blood donations from AICO employees and local community members.

Chuck Reilly, AICO EVP and Chairman for the Industry fundraising arm of City of Hope stated, “While our fundraising efforts to fuel research into cancer cures and eradicating Type 1 Diabetes are incredibly vital, blood donation is just as critical. It’s a precious, personal gift that not only saves lives and, but empowers communities to make a real difference.”

AICO President Martin Ploy added, “These generous blood donations directly impact the effectiveness of the Michael Amini Transfusion and Medicine Center, which is considered the heartbeat of the City of Hope campus. Blood and platelets from this center are distributed from the center to patients throughout the campus and beyond.”

City of Hope recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Michael Amini Transfusion Medicine Center, a 60,000-square-foot building on the City of Hope premises in Duarte, California.

This center has allowed City of Hope to expand its participation in cellular therapy research, blood and stem cell processing, and transfusion support for transplant, oncology and surgery patients.

The City of Hope Blood Mobile hosts blood drives throughout Greater Los Angeles County and Orange County, within a 70-mile radius of their Duarte campus.
