Custom upholstery specialist, Sam Moore, announced the winners of “80 Great Room Designs” an exclusive contest for the interior design community. Launched earlier this year, the initiative was part of several activities celebrating the company’s 80th anniversary. The winning submissions – representing designs from Georgia, Minnesota and Texas – highlight the versatility of Sam Moore’s product line, illustrated through photographs from a variety of geographic regions, color schemes and interior design aesthetics.

The contest, which launched in April, encouraged the company’s interior design partners to share photographs of recent design projects that utilized Sam Moore products, along with comments about why they were selected for each space. The top three submissions – selected from dozens of entries from across the country – were chosen for their design aesthetic, creativity, photo quality and rationale for selecting Sam Moore for the space.

The winning room designs were submitted by:

  • Modern English Designs of Alpharetta, Georgia for a light and airy neutral living space featuring the Ziggy sofa, flanked by two pairs of Azriel waterfall skirted swivel gliders and Hand over Heart club chairs.

  • Colleen Thompson of Chazin Interiors in Plymouth, Minnesota for the use of two Claremont club chairs that add a refreshing pop of color to a crisp, white living space with rustic architectural elements.

  • Sarah Schwarz of The Design Source in Sugar Land, Texas for an adjoining great room and sitting room featuring a pair of Ziggy sofas and two pairs of Zara club chairs.

“We were thrilled with the variety of submissions we received from our design partners for this special anniversary contest,” said Sandi Teague, vice president of sales and merchandising for Sam Moore. “It’s so inspiring to see our products used in a variety of interiors across many regions of the country and goes to show just how versatile our customizable upholstery product line is.

“As part of our company-wide anniversary celebrations, we’ve shared these photos with our craftsmen and women in the factory so they can truly appreciate how their hard work helps to create beautiful homes for consumers across the country,” she continued. “Seeing their reactions to the photo submissions has been so rewarding.”

In addition to sharing the photos with company employees, many of the contest submissions will be shared across Sam Moore’s social media channels as part of an ongoing social media campaign designed to creatively chronicle the company’s 80-year history. Using the hashtag #80MooreYears, the campaign will reach thousands of users and highlight the company’s versatility across a variety of interiors through a visual tour of design projects from around the country.

About Sam Moore Furniture: Sam Moore Furniture is a leader in crafting quality, custom upholstery. In 1940, a young Sam Moore and four of his friends bought the Delaware Chair Co. in Delaware, Ohio. A tough economy and a looming war forced Sam to relocate. The company moved south to Christiansburg, Va., in 1943 and to its current home in Bedford, Va., in 1960. Through the years, the company expanded to a 300,000-square-foot facility that is a balanced blend of state-of-the-art technology and hand craftsmanship. In 2007, Sam Moore was acquired by Martinsville, Va.-based Hooker Furniture, one of the world’s largest and most respected furniture companies, founded over 90 years ago in 1924.
