Universal Furniture announced its new partnership with L.A.-based interior designer and real estate developer, Erinn Valencich of Erinn V. Design Group. The furniture manufacturer and designer will debut their first collection at High Point Market in April.
“We’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to work with Erinn and develop something that showcases the evolution of styling at Universal,” said Universal Vice President of Marketing Neil MacKenzie. “Erinn’s work in design ranges from product to a variety of luxury interior projects. These experiences influenced the project and we are excited to showcase our work together this spring at Market.”
The collection will be called Erinn V x Universal and will contain furnishings in both casegoods and upholstery for living room, dining room, bedroom and home office.
“After designing furniture for nearly 20 years, I wanted to partner with a company that makes a terrific product at a great price point, so I can share my design aesthetic with a broader audience,” said Valencich. “Universal Furniture is the best I’ve seen at what they do.”
“The collection is a bit of a departure from what you normally see from Universal,” said Universal Furniture Vice President of Marketing Neil MacKenzie. “Its striking shapes are novel and its palette of finishes and materials is broader than any collection we’ve ever created. It was definitely developed with the interior designer in mind.”
Erinn V. x Universal offers 45 sophisticated, yet approachable, modern designs with clean lines, sculptural forms and wide range of finishes (20 to be exact) and materials all designed to work together. With finishes ranging from dark walnut to white lacquer, silver leaf and black chrome, the collection delivers lots of detail in unexpected places—inside a leg or underneath a table top. Some finishes are employed in combination to provide contrast, visual interest or simply allow the piece to function in multiple environments. “You need a really good variety of finishes to mix together and Universal spent the time to get them right,” said Valencich. “Many pieces in the collection have three finishes.”
Designs display a classic foundation with a depth of character that brings a space alive. They can either modernize a traditional space or warm up a modern home. “Each piece has to work in modern and contemporary homes,” said Valencich. “If it can do both of those things, it’s a good design for me.”
