Designer Kristi Nelson Expands Chelsea House Collection at High Point Market Fall 2022

Artist, interior designer, product designer, and founder of KMNelson Design, Kristi Nelson, will release the full breadth of her Euro-inspired vision during Fall High Point Market events October 20 - 26, 2022. The designer had debuted select pieces of her “Grand Tour” concept collection with Chelsea House during High Point Market Spring earlier this year.
The Fall release will include new pieces from theContemporary Neoclassicalcollection, lighting fixtures, and mirrors inspired by the Art Deco period, the grotto aesthetic, and nature, along with accessory items that add the perfect finishing touch to any décor.The pieces will be on display in the Chelsea House showroom at 200 Hamilton Street in High Point.
Nelson’s designs, according to Chelsea House’s Pam Cain, “exude an effortless luxury and a sense of joy and grace, much like Kristi herself.”
The exclusive collection designed by Kristi Nelson, principal KMNelson Design, LLC, reinterprets the spirit of four globally influenced design themes (Contemporary Neoclassical, Art Déco Influences, Grotto, and Nature’s Inspiration) through her Cali-inspired lens.
According to Nelson, this style blending allows homeowners to dive deeper into revealing their own unique style, as the designer believes interiors should “reflect who we are now while evolving as we do.”
Having lived and traveled in Europe, Nelson has great admiration for the way Europeans honor historic architecture, art, and antiques yet are “always looking forward in their design,” says Nelson. “That mix of contrasts, along with seeing beauty in imperfection, just speaks to me.”
Highlights of theContemporary Neoclassicalgrouping include herAvenue Mirrored Consolesand theHyde Park Bench. The consoles are as chicly timeless as Park and Madison Avenues and as always fashionable as the perfect little black dress. Her Hyde Park Bench stuns with its dramatically swooping, curved legs, which are emphasized by the lacquered red finish, natural cane inset, and brass accents.
Part of theArt Deco Influences group, the Claridge and Connaught Mirrors are named after Nelson’s favorite Mayfair hotels in London, where lavish Art Deco designs and British craftsmanship leave a lasting impression. Brass overlays bring in the pronounced, contemporary touch that emphasizes the geometric shapes and the cobalt glass framing each mirror.
In the same grouping, theChelsea Optic Glass Semi-Flush Mount Fixture features glass bubbles directly inspired by the sidewalks in New York’s Soho, where pieces of optic glass were embedded in gridded sections of sidewalks to light turn-of-the-century underground factories. Additionally, the brass Dancing Fans Sconces capture the energy and character of Roaring Twenties decadence and reference the movement and the swing of the flappers.
The stand out fromNature’s Inspirationis theSan Cristobal Lamp. The name, a play on words, references the crystal ball inhabiting the intersection of the looping stem, as well as organic texture and form which allude to the Galapagos island of the same name (famous for being the island where Charles Darwin first went ashore).
Other items that will be on view include thePalm Beach Buffet, theGrotto Mirrorin horizontal and vertical configurations, theBrighton Semi-Flush Light Fixture, theFairmont Sconces, theDel Rey Sconces, and theCaddie Petite Caned Cabinet.
At Fall High Point Market, Nelson will participate with other leading designers in a panel at Chelsea House titled “When Design Goes Too Far: The Perfection of the Imperfect Room” which will be moderated byTraditional HomeSenior Design and Style Editor Krissa Rossbund.
They’ll discuss creating a relaxed and personal environment and how/when to stop designing, step back, and appreciate the joy of an imperfect room.
The panel will take place at 2 PM on Saturday, October 22 from 2 PM to 3 PM at 200 Hamilton Street in High Point. Lunch will be served prior to the panel.
