What began as a licensing relationship in 1993 between mattress manufacturer King Koil, and United Arab Emirates (UAE) licensee, Dubai Furniture Manufacturing Company (DFMC), has become a successful collaboration that the companies celebrated together at a 30-year anniversary event in Dubai recently. The event was attended by several King Koil executives from around the world, including its Chairman Jin Hoe Yeoh and CEO David Binke.
During the formal program, Sundar Rajan, managing director of DFMC, shared the story of the company’s beginning and the success it’s seen within only a few years under the King Koil banner.
Within seven years, DFMC was the first licensee in the Middle East to have a King Koil branded showroom that more effectively marketed product to dealers in the region. During the following three years, DFMC opened 15 King Koil showrooms and today, it has expanded further at retail and operates three factories –the UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. The company has also developed a strong contract business providing luxury mattresses to major hotel brands in the Middle East like Hilton, Marriot, Taj, Emirates Towers and Emirates Palace.
“As we reflect on our 30-year journey, we are reminded of the obstacles we have overcome, challenges we have faced and the achievements we have celebrated,” said Rajan.
“Today we celebrate our talented and dedicated employees for their contribution to the progress and success of the company, dealers and hospitality customers who have trusted us, owners who have supported us, King Koil who has stood by us, and the market in which we operate – the Middle East Market – which has embraced us and given us a platform to grow,” he added.
“I was honored to be a part of the DFMC celebration. This company has done a tremendous job building King Koil in the Middle East and serves as an example of the strength of our brand. We wish DFMC nothing but success in the future,” said Ho.
“DFMC has shown over 30 years of unbelievable stewardship of the King Koil brand,” said Binke. “Middle Eastern consumers appreciate the luxury and quality of our product offerings all of which are fostered by the great work of Sundar and his team. We wish them another 30 years of continued growth and prosperity.”
About King Koil
A leading global mattress manufacturer, King Koil supports more than 25 licensees in more than 80 countries where King Koil mattresses are manufactured and sold. Headquartered in Avondale, Arizona, the company has a long, rich history that reaches back to 1898 when Samuel Bronstein founded United States Bedding in St. Paul, Minnesota. What started out as six employees in a small factory has continued to grow. During the 1930s, U.S. Bedding improved the bedspring and was looking for a new name for its product. From there, the King Koil name was born. For more information, visit www.KingKoil.com.
