CITY Furniture and ARCO Complete 1.3 Million Square Foot Distribution Facility & Showroom

ARCO National Construction recently partnered with repeat client CITY Furniture to bring a 1,388,444 SF distribution and showroom to Plant City, Florida. The development was awarded the CoStar Impact Award for Commercial Development of the Year for Tampa, Florida. The project was selected by a panel of local industry professionals for its impact on the local market, including bringing approximately 500 new jobs to the region. The facility includes more than 1,000,000 SF of warehouse space, as well as a nearly 200,000 SF two-story showroom, making it one of the largest furniture destinations in the state.

Hundreds of new jobs created by the project are anticipated to pay higher than average wages for the local market and offer benefits. Because of this, CITY Furniture expects the project to bring residential demand to the already growing Plant City area. The company plans to hire multiple distribution center workers, as well as operations and sales support staff. ARCO and CITY Furniture are currently pursuing LEED® certification for the facility.

The facility is strategically located along the I-4 corridor between Orlando and Tampa and houses the company’s headquarters. The large-scale showroom within the facility recently opened to the public and features signature CITY Furniture amenities including the KC Café and Wine Bar, CITY Marketplace, and Mattress Gallery.

Energy-efficient features include LED lighting throughout the warehouse and showroom, a solar-ready design, and electric vehicle parking spaces for customers and the community. The project also includes an onsite compressed natural gas filling station which CITY Furniture will utilize for its fleet of delivery trucks.

The 87-acre development also features 39’ clear height, 226 dock positions, two escalators, two material lifts, uninsulated tilt-up construction at the warehouse, and insulated tilt-up construction at the showroom.
