James DiPersia, the award winning contemporary  furniture designer passed away on April 23rd after a battle with cancer.

He was a past President of the International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD). DiPersia received many awards for outstanding furniture design including the Pinnacle award.

He was a freelance designer,  founded and was president of diSegno Designs located at the New York Design Center.

DiPersia's furniture designs exemplified timeless design and elegance that never goes out of style and whose legacy will live on in customers homes and showroom floors. Not only did he design furniture, he built samples as well to make it easier for the factories he worked with to manufacture. DiPersia held eight design patents for: beds, wall units, dining tables and buffets and hutches.

DiPersia served proudly in the US Navy. He rescued Greyhounds after his retirement and owned one at the time of his death. He loved corvettes too. His 1967 Corvette Stingray was featured on many automobile magazine covers over the years.

He leaves behind his wife of 49years, Barabara, his children and grandchildren.
