SexySleep Tip #3- Fielding Questions About Sex & Mattresses

Tip #3: Leggett & Platt surveyed more than 100 bedding industry retail sales associates (RSAs) as a part of the SexySleep research. The components manufacturer learned that 87% of RSAs have fielded a question about sex in relation to a mattress during the sales process, yet most have never received any company training on handling intimacy questions. Not unlike a good night’s sleep, sex is relevant to consumers and it’s naturally connected to the mattress.
Through conducting the SexySleep research, Leggett & Platt learned that some consumers equate quality of sleep with quality of sex. One participant said, “If I’m well rested I’ll have better sex.” And, if a mattress delivers both, people tend to be more satisfied. Since there is a natural correlation between a mattress and sex, Leggett & Platt wanted to provide the mattress industry with consumer insights about intimacy and the mattress.
