A leader in the emerging field of neuroaesthetics, architect Suchi Reddy will deliver the inaugural Design, Art & Science Symposium keynote address during the event set for Friday, October 13, from 8am to 5pm, in The Loft at Congdon Yards.

As founder of New York-based Reddymade Architecture, Design & Public Art, Reddy is known for her commitment to the premise that beauty supports healing and well-being. She will present “Form Follows Feeling,” an exploration of how design practitioners will learn to implement neuro-inclusivity into their projects, from residential spaces to retail environments.

The Design, Art & Science Symposium was conceived by Science in Design co-founders Mike Peterson and Linda Kafka to serve interior designers, architects, product manufacturers, retailers and others related to the residential and commercial design sectors, including design students.

“It’s an honor to present the visionary architect and artist Suchi Reddy at High Point Market,” says Peterson. “Her passion for neuroscience-based design will inspire our symposium’s audience to more fully realize their power to improve lives.”

The first CEU-accredited symposium of its kind at High Point Market will reveal how and why living environments affect human health, featuring leading academics and experts in the fields of science and design. Topics covered throughout the full-day event include neuroaesthetics, cognitive architecture, biophilia, and the evolutionary imperative for beauty—translating to color, shape, light, contrast and other selection factors in the design process.

“We’re excited to share how leaders in science academia view the design industry as an alternative health resource,” says Kafka. “Their evidence-based findings present a huge opportunity for designers to find purpose in their work and grow their impact.”

Participants will take away 9 Health, Safety and Wellness (HSW) CEU credits, along with evidence-based findings to inform design projects, product development, and more. The sessions are devised to help participants outline a road map for new business and marketing opportunities.

Register via Eventbrite to attend. Doors open at 7 am for networking, with breakfast provided. Following the daylong symposium, participants are invited to a “Meet the Speakers” cocktail mixer hosted by interior designer Angela Harris in partnership with Phillips Collection, located at 135 S. Main St., starting at 5:30 pm.

In addition to the one-day symposium, Science in Design has organized the following events throughout High Point Market dates:
