CITY Furniture Paints The Town With Pink Pumpkins

CITY Furniture , the family-owned American furniture and mattress retailer, fine upholstery manufacturer, and one of America’s Top 25 furniture retailers, proudly unveils their 2023 Pink Pumpkins tribute and mission to end breast cancer.  Now in its fourth year, the initiative which runs October 1 – December 31, has raised over $1.2 million to help the American Cancer Society (ACS) fund life-saving research through their Making Strides against Breast Cancer events  CITY invites the public to join forces with them to raise breast cancer awareness and spread messages of support. Now through the end of October, visitors to any CITY Furniture or Ashley Homestore can receive a complimentary pink pumpkin bucket for family trick-or-treating or Halloween home décor.  CITY’s goal? To paint Florida's communities pink with Pink Pumpkins as a powerful tribute to survivors and loved ones touched by breast cancer. 

 CITY has set its sights on a staggering $750,000 fundraising goal for the ACS with the ultimate goal to deliver lifesaving breast cancer screenings, revolutionary research and crucial transportation to treatment centers. To meet this goal, CITY is inviting the community to help raise funds by participating in its Test Rest Program from October 1st through the end of this year. When individuals visit a CITY showroom and complete a mattress test rest, they will not only receive a $25 gift card, but also trigger a $25 donation to the ACS on their behalf, courtesy of CITY’s 5% Giving Pledge.  

Serving as a beacon of inspiration, CITY has 45 businesses joining its crusade against breast cancer. Esteemed partners including Autonation, Dex Imaging, Elite Awards, The Florida Panthers, JM Family, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Lamark, Miller Construction, One Beat Medical, The Breakers, and UKG have all rallied to generously donate to the cause and march with the CITY Team. Join them by signing up for the nearest Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk which take place on October 21 in South Florida,  October 28 in Tampa and  October 29 in Orlando.  Together, CITY and its dedicated partners are leading a powerful force for positive change. 

“Our Pink Pumpkins mission was started with my mother, Doreen Koenig,” said Andrew Koenig, CEO of CITY. “We all thought of her as the CITY mom and she was an avid philanthropist who was dedicated to ending breast cancer long before she was diagnosed herself. Toward the end of her brave battle, she had the idea to distribute thousands of Pink Pumpkin buckets in our showrooms and around the community as a special way to fill the community with the color of hope for breast cancer awareness. It’s in her honor that we continue her mission to spread awareness and, ultimately, end breast cancer.

“The female breast cancer death rate has declined by 42% as of 2019, mainly because of earlier detection and improved treatment. The ACS is putting 100+ years of lifesaving experience to work through investments in breast cancer research, ensuring greater access to quality care, influencing public policy, and providing patient support,” said Kimberly Jackson, ACS Southeast Region Executive Vice President. “We look forward to continuing to partner with CITY Furniture to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families.”
