Common Thread for the Cure Foundation Recognizes Spectra Home for Generous Donation

Furniture World News Desk on 10/5/2023

In an effort to support those battling breast cancer in the furnishings and design industries, Spectra Home will donate a portion of the proceeds from their new Tamara Day by Spectra Home upholstery collection to The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation. The collection can be viewed in the Spectra Home High Point showroom, 200 N Hamilton #213, Oct. 13-18, 2023.

The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation was founded in 2000 by the late Suzann Burkhead-Bray and her brother, Scott Burkhead, in honor of their younger sister, Sandra Burkhead Campbell who died from breast cancer. After seeing first-hand how devastating this disease can be, not only for the individual fighting the disease but for the whole family, Bray focused her passion on helping others and the concept for The Common Thread for the Cure Foundation was born. The Foundation supports individuals fighting breast cancer who are affiliated with the furnishings and design industries by offering financial assistance through confidential grants. The grants are intended to enhance quality of life and can be used to meet any financial obligations, household needs and transportation to medical appointments. The Foundation has awarded over $1 million in grants since its inception.

“We are very grateful to Spectra Home for their generosity,” commented Rob Mayer, president of Mayer Fabrics. “Their ongoing donation will help fund our increasing requests for financial support from those battling breast cancer. This product sponsorship will make a substantial difference in the lives of our industries’ colleagues. I encourage all to stop in the Spectra Home showroom and see the Tamara Day for Spectra Home collection.”

To that Jim Telleysh, president of Spectra Home added, “So many of us have friends and family members who have had to deal with breast cancer. We hope that our support will help ease the burden that other families are experiencing.”

In addition to the donation from the collection, Spectra Home is also offering the proceeds from the Chair of Hope fund raiser next spring to help support a grant. This Market Spectra Home is inviting showroom visitors to sign their healing intentions on a piece of fabric that will be used to upholster a chair from the Tamara Day by Spectra Home collection. “We hope that The Chair of Hope, infused with hopeful, helpful energy will bring someone fighting breast cancer a sense of support, good health, and heartfelt wishes for their recovery,” Telleysh concluded.
