Science in Design founder Mike Peterson announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind certification program for residential design professionals, live from the Hooker Furnishings Designer Theatre at High Point Market.

The Science in Design Certification Program is a groundbreaking 24-class design education curriculum focused on human health and its science-backed relationship to the designed environment.

“Science in Design promotes a revolutionary role for the residential design sector as an alternative health resource,” said Peterson. “The Science in Design Certification Program outlines a new path for designers to serve clients in life altering ways.”

The self-paced, online coursework is divided into five human health-focused modules: 1) Neuroaesthetics; 2) Biophilia and fractals; 3) Science of color, light, sound and air; 4) New technologies; and 5) Human-centered design practices and marketing your services. A Science In Design Certificate (SIDC) is awarded upon completion of the course, which additionally rewards 16 IDCEC-accredited Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) continuing education units (CEUs).

Esteemed contributors to the curriculum include academics and medical specialists from the University of Texas, University of Pennsylvania, University of Oregon, Boston Architectural Collecte, Eurac, and the Color Marketing Group, along with interior design professionals leading the field of neuroaesthetics.
