New Traveling Exhibit at American Home Furnishings Hall Fame Explores Fast-Changing World of High-Tech Fabric Printing

Furniture World News Desk on 4/5/2024

A new traveling exhibit exploring the fast-changing world of digital fabric printing is debuting April 12 at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame, 311 S. Hamilton St. during the High Point Market.

“Textiles Reimagined: Brave New World of Digital Printing” features engaging, interactive exhibits which invite visitors to immerse themselves in the brave new world of digital textile printing. The exhibit will include woven and print boxes that provide a tactile fabric experience; pattern play cubes that invite visitors to try their hand at rearranging a series of creative design elements; and a selfie area where various textile patterns will be projected onto a wall.  Upholstered chairs sport printed fabric designs which took their inspiration from vintage fabrics.

Drawing on the rich history of Springs Mills, a manufacturer of bedding and bath textiles founded in 1886 by Leroy Springs and Elliott White in Lancaster, S.C., the exhibit spotlights textiles, documents and other historic resources from the company’s storied past along with technology used today to create the latest generation of engineered print designs. Organized by Springs Creative and led by Design Director Ashlyn Beck, it will be open to members of the home furnishings industry during the April 13-17 High Point Market and to the public afterward.

“We have based the exhibit on historic fabrics from our Baxter Mill Archive to show how the past can inspire the future in new creative ways,” says, Ashlyn Beck, design director of Springs Creative.  “It is a place where people can interact with fabrics and try their hands at remastering textiles rooted in the past by creating fresh new designs.”
