Thailand to Host International Woodworking Exhibition in September

Furniture World News Desk on 5/24/2024

Thailand will host the Thailand International Woodworking and Furniture Exhibition 2024 (TIWF 2024) at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok from September 18th to 20th, 2024. The event aims to showcase the latest technology, solutions, materials, trends, and sustainability efforts in the woodworking industry across Thailand and Southeast Asia.

Organized by Thailand’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, TIWF 2024 has received endorsements from over 17 international and local industry organizations and associations, underscoring its significance as a key regional industry platform. The exhibition will occupy over 5,000 square meters of floor space and will feature participants from seven national exhibitor groups, including Germany, USA, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, France, and Thailand, along with over 150 exhibitors from 22 countries.

The event is expected to attract over 4,000 regional delegates and trade buyers from the woodworking and furniture production industries in Thailand and the surrounding Southeast Asian region. TIWF 2024 will also serve as a knowledge exchange platform, featuring conferences and seminars on the latest industry trends and issues, as well as carpentry skill masterclasses and DIY workshops conducted by vocational institutes and knowledge partners.

TIWF 2024 will facilitate new business and networking opportunities through activities such as a business matching program, business networking sessions, technology demonstrations, and product presentations.

Ms. Peerayaphan Pongsanam, Assistant Director at IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., stated, "The trend demonstrates consistent growth in the exportation of Thai wood products. The Ministry of Commerce reveals that export values rose from 94,460.49 million baht in 2021 to 103,832 million baht in 2022, culminating in 115,176 million baht in 2023. This includes processed wood, plywood, fiberboard, wooden appliances, and wooden construction equipment, thereby illustrating robust and sustainable expansion in this vital sector.”

Recently, TIWF 2024 organizers conducted a roadshow in Chiang Mai, North Thailand, hosting an industry seminar on sustainability trends in woodworking production. The seminar attracted over 70 delegates from 54 companies. A similar event is planned for May in Songkhla, South Thailand, which is known for its natural wood resources such as teak, rubberwood, and mahogany, supporting both large-scale manufacturing and traditional craftsmanship.

The strong industry support for TIWF 2024 highlights the need for a regional face-to-face business and knowledge exchange platform in Thailand, addressing industry challenges such as the slow adoption of technology, machinery, and automation.
