Regina Andrew Detroit (RAD) is lighting up the Lowcountry as a national sponsor of the 2024
Southern Living Idea House, located in the picturesque coastal community of Kiawah River, just 20 miles from
Charleston, South Carolina. This year’s Idea House, designed to celebrate the modern southern lifestyle and
historic southern farmhouses, features a curated selection of RAD’s lighting fixtures that perfectly
complement the home’s innovative design and coastal charm.
"The Southern Living Idea House is a perfect fit for RAD and we are happy to be a part of such a long-standing
showcase of timeless design,” said Neil MacKenzie, chief marketing officer at Regina Andrew Detroit. "Our
lighting pieces were carefully chosen to reflect the blend of modern and traditional that defines the Southern
aesthetic, and we believe they add a distinct character to this beautiful home."
The 2024 Southern Living Idea House is situated between two majestic live oaks and overlooks Abbapoola Creek. The
house embraces its natural surroundings, with views from nearly every window and a seamless flow between indoor and
outdoor spaces.
A key element of the Idea House is its commitment to local culture and craftsmanship, featuring local art and
handcrafted products, including sweetgrass baskets from area artisans. The house’s design, inspired by the
traditional Southern farmhouse and brought to life by Allison Elebash of Allison Elebash Interiors, also
incorporates modern elements, creating a space that is both timeless and contemporary.
Adding to the house’s approachable décor is an array of Regina Andrew Detroit’s lighting fixtures.
Highlights include the Globe Pendant, with its minimalist silhouette, hung as a duo above the kitchen island. The
Jubilee Pendant, with a rustic yet refined design, perfectly complements the bunk room, as do Kismet Hanging Sconces
and the Kayla Ceramic Table Lamp, with its unexpected silhouette. Each fixture was chosen to enhance the house's
southern charm with modern details.
Other standout pieces from RAD include the Hugo Ceramic Table Lamp and Alabaster Mini Orb Lamp, which bring a
peaceful aura to any room. The house also prominently features other fixtures including the Cally Ceramic Pendant,
Ariel Sconce, Treble Sconce and the Tate Picture Light. RAD’s Treble Chandelier elegantly graces the dining
room overlooking the creek behind the house. The Cape Lantern, Jameson Sconce, and Virtue Floor Lamp also feature
throughout the home in subtle, complementary settings. Each piece contributes to the home’s inviting
atmosphere, blending traditional styles with modern functionality.
"The Southern Living Idea House is a wonderful showcase for our products, allowing us to demonstrate how our lighting
can transform a space, bringing warmth, elegance, and a touch of southern hospitality," added MacKenzie.
The Idea House will be open for public tours from August 23 through December 22, Thursday through Sunday, with
special holiday decorations and seasonal activations beginning in November. Ticket proceeds will benefit the
following charities: Communities In Schools of SC, Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, and Emmanuel Nine Memorial Foundation. The Southern Living
Idea House is also prominently featured in the September 2024 issue of Southern Living, available on newsstands now
and online.
For those unable to visit in person, Regina Andrew Detroit has created a Shop the Look page on its
website, featuring images of the Southern Living Idea House and accompanying lighting designs, allowing everyone to
bring a piece of southern charm into their own homes.
