Jardin Cabinet with detail and interior.
This October, Currey & Company expands its product line with the introduction of the Jardin
Cabinet, designed by Aimee Kurzner. As part of the company's commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship, the
cabinet is made from reclaimed solid teak wood, reflecting an effort to combine recycled materials with traditional
production methods.
The cabinet features a warm stain finish that highlights the natural wood grain. Its door design draws inspiration
from the jungle-themed paintings of Henri Rousseau, a self-taught French artist. Rousseau's work, influenced by the
botanical gardens of Paris, is echoed in the detailed carvings of the cabinet's doors, which are further embellished
with thin brass cladding.
The repoussé metalworking technique, involving hand-hammered brass embossing, is used to finish the doors.
This process showcases the skill of artisans who use precision and rhythm to achieve the intricate designs. The
result is a cabinet that blends functionality with artistic craftsmanship, offering a unique and tactile experience.
Currey & Company plans to introduce more pieces in this collection next year.
