Bob’s Discount Furniture Opens Flagship Store in Somerville, MA

Bob’s Discount Furniture, the ninth-largest furniture retailer in the U.S., has opened a new flagship store in Somerville, Massachusetts. The 38,012-square-foot location at Assembly Square Marketplace opened on October 21, following a VIP preview event attended by local dignitaries, media, and community stakeholders. The store is expected to create 20-25 jobs in the area.

Enhanced Shopping Features
The flagship store offers a variety of new features to enhance the customer experience, including:
- Inspirational Room Vignettes: Showcasing full-room designs to help customers visualize affordable and cohesive home decor solutions.
- Home Decor Marketplace: A selection of seasonal accents and decor items available for same-day purchase.
- Elevated Sleep Center: Featuring the new Luxe line of mattresses, including the Envy, Obsession, and Indulgence models.
- Motion Furniture Section: Demonstrating the comfort and wellness benefits of motion furniture.
- Little Bob Selfie Station: Encouraging guests to interact with Bob’s iconic spokespuppet.
Community Initiatives
Bob’s Somerville store marks the launch of the “Plushies for Charity” program, which donates $5 from each Little Bob plushie sale to local charities. Proceeds from the Somerville location will support the Somerville Homeless Coalition.
Additionally, the store’s on-the-house café offers free treats such as ice cream, cookies, and coffee, along with the opportunity for guests to donate to the Café Collections for a Cause program. Bob’s will match all contributions dollar-for-dollar, with funds benefiting the Somerville Homeless Coalition.

Grand Opening Events
Bob’s will host a grand opening celebration on November 8, featuring a ribbon cutting and donations to the Somerville Homeless Coalition and East Somerville Elementary School. Weekend events include giveaways, entertainment, and a meet-and-greet with former New England Patriots player and three-time Super Bowl champion Joe Andruzzi on Saturday, November 9.
