Scan Design Furniture Announces Closure of Final Store After 61 Years

Furniture World News Desk on 1/21/2025

Scan Design Furniture, an independent retailer of Scandinavian and European-inspired home furnishings, is going out of business and permanently closing its last remaining store following a total liquidation.

Owner Peter Jacobsen has partnered with leading furniture promotional sales specialists Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) to oversee a seamless transition as Scan Design Furniture concludes its operations after serving the Pacific Northwest for more than six decades.

“We are honored to assist Scan Design Furniture in celebrating its legacy of outstanding service and quality while providing customers with niche furniture design and exceptional value during this final chapter,” said Tom Liddell, senior vice president of PFP.

Founded in 1964 by Jens and Inger Bruun, Scan Design Furniture began as a small store in a renovated post office. The Bruuns’ vision was to introduce the expert craftsmanship of Danish furniture to the region and to advance Danish American relations. Over the years, the company grew into a multi-million-dollar business and, at the peak of its success, consisted of nine locations.

Scan Design Furniture opens its final sale to the public on January 23. The building has been sold and is available for lease. For more information on the store-closing event or leasing the building, visit www.scan-design.com.
