SEO studies show websites that feature relevant content and garner positive comments are likely to gain higher placement in searches.

Savvy Furniture manufacturers and retailers understand that effective SEO approaches are critical in driving traffic to their company websites. Statistics showing 93% of online shopping experiences begin with a search engine.

But yesteryear’s SEO strategies aren’t as effective as they once were. Google and Bing regularly tweak their search algorithms, meaning what hoisted your website search rankings may no longer do the trick. Fact is, today’s SEO takes into account all your online efforts, ranging from content and video to social media marketing and linking.

In addition, a greater emphasis on website quality, growing interest in video marketing and more weight given to how visitors respond to sites will be keys to ongoing success.

Here’s how you can leverage these trends to your company’s advantage in 2014 and beyond.

Quality counts. There was a time when a search would turn up some sites worth perusing, and a good many others jammed with questionable content. That’s because most search engines equated high quantity of pages with high quality sites. Today, Google and most search engines are more likely to reward sites that provide useful, relevant information by pushing them atop search results.

Mobile search is quickly becoming the most important search method. Punching in a search or verbalizing a search into a Smart Phone is fast becoming the preferred method for many business professionals to search for B2B products and services.

Human response. Whether visitors comment on your site upon visiting it is an increasingly important determinant of how high it appears in searches. Social media is being accorded an ever-higher weighting in Google algorithms.

SEO secret weapon: Video. YouTube is now the second busiest search engine - after Google. Properly tagged video content can show up high in search results on both Google and YouTube. That means companies wanting to maximize their SEO strategies should be looking at every chance to produce compelling videos.

Links less important, releases more so. Links are not as relevant as they once were in search rankings. But the tried-and-true press release may be gaining importance, and many companies are increasingly weighting press release distribution as high as they do blogging in SEO.

As noted, keeping abreast of SEO trends is a never-ending challenge. But surmount that hurdle and there’ll be lots more customers visiting your website.
