The presentation, titled, "My Journey...Fashioning the Well Dressed Home; The only difference is fewer sizes!” takes place on Monday evening, April 18, 2016, at The String and Splinter, High Point’s City Club. A Student “meet and greet” begins at 5:30pm with reception following at 6 and dinner at 7.

In addition to Alexander Julian’s presentation, meet-and-greet, reception, and dinner the evening will feature the presentation of the Furniture and Interior Design winners of the 2016 Beinenstock Furniture Library Student Design Competition and the 2016 ASFD Merit Scholarship winner. The ASFD Spring Market Event sponsored by Phillips Collection.

Commenting on their sponsorship of ASFD’s Spring Market Event, Jason Phillips, Phillips Collection Vice President said, "We work in such a dynamic, multi-faceted industry and feel it is the obligation of all sectors to show their support where ever possible. Of specific significance to us is the American Society of Furniture Designers. We are quite active in the organization and feel it is our obligation to support its efforts in mentoring, educating and inspiring the present and future designers in our industry.”

It is through visionaries like Alexander Julian that we continue to push new ideas and innovations, creating new ways of dressing your home. Alexander has such a rich history and has brought his years of experience as a fashion designer to the home furnishings industry. This has had a profound impact beyond his personal design portfolio. He is amongst the pioneers who have blurred the lines between what was the traditional practice of furniture design to what is now a hybrid model. We have Alexander to thank for making us a “better-dressed” industry!"

"Alexander Julian has won every major award for design, including 5 Coty Awards, 3 Cutty Sark Awards, the Council of Fashion Designers of America Award, the International Color Marketing Award, the Pantone Award, and the Worldesign Award. He is the first American fashion designer to personally create the majority of his own textile designs, for which he won 7 awards. His textile design is part of the Smithsonian National Design Museum's permanent collection. He is the only fashion designer to win the Pinnacle Award for furniture design. He is the only fashion designer to design for both Pro and college sports. He has been voted to the International Best Dressed list 9 times. He and his wife Meagan live in Fairfield County Connecticut and Chapel Hill North Carolina. He is the proud father of 7 children and 4 grandchildren."
