Bunakara, a line of home furnishings and textiles announced recently that they will enter the U.S. marketplace at the April High Point Market in Space G-6055 of the SALON in the Suites at Market Square. Designed by Joana Aranha, an international interior designer and retail store designer, the new product line features pieces that in her global search for her clients, are those things that can’t be found.

Products include furniture, home accents and textiles hand-crafted in India, using beautifully authentic materials such as acacia wood, cotton, linen, natural dyes and sand-cast brass. Each piece also features an unexpected signature detail such as an iconic single painted chair leg, a hidden message on the inner core of a pillow, an ornate sand-cast brass ferrule on a simple acacia table leg or an intricate hand-applied lace appliqué. Most pieces also feature Aranha’s signature, a beaded Flower of India insignia.

“Bunakara means ‘weaver’ in Hindi and this is a line that weaves the history and the emotions in a mix of the past with the present,” says Dixon Bartlett, U.S. project manager for Bunakara. “Bunakara is specially curated for retailers and designers who appreciate sophisticated, hand crafted design that is difficult to find today. From the soul of the artist that Joana is, through the hands of artisans, to the homes of those with a sophisticated artistic sense of style, Bunakara helps us all discover what can’t be found.”
