Known the world over for its premium design and craftsmanship in clocks and collectors cabinets, Howard Miller® is now making a major furniture statement with pieces targeted to the latest trends in home furnishings. "From Classic Contemporary and Casual Traditional to Mission Style, Shaker and Casual Contemporary, many of our recent introductions are designed to complement furniture collections," said Executive Vice President Phil Miller. "In fact, we have a collection of grandfather clocks we are calling Furniture Trend Designs (F.T.D.) that are marketed exclusively through furniture stores." ~ Coastal Point Grandfather Showcases Platinum Finish ~ The sophisticated contemporary look of this clock began in the coastal areas of the United States and has moved inland, hence the name Coastal Point. It is finished in platinum, currently very popular in accent furniture, picture frames and dinnerware. The arched case has decorative overlays at the top and sides. The dial features a textured crackle finish with a brushed-nickel bezel. Crystal cut, grooved glass follows the curve of the pediment on the front door. The back and bottom are mirrored and the illuminated case highlights the brushed nickel-finished pendulum and weights. Scalloped wood wraps around the base and decorative antique silver metal accents the cut-out. Measuring 84 " high, 30" wide and 15 " deep, the Coastal Point includes a cable-driven, triple chime Kieninger movement with an automatic nighttime shut-off option. Kieninger movements are among the finest in the industry. A brass plate engraved with name and special date is free with purchase.
Casual Traditional: Finished in the lightly distressed Americana Cherry for a more casual look and crowned with a beautiful shell overlay also reflected in the base, the La Rochelle grandfather boasts French and Scandinavian influences. It features a bombé base and a tapered mid-section on both the front and sides. The aged antique round dial showcases an appealing convex crystal, distinctive Roman numerals and additional carvings at the sides.
The La Rochelle has a cable-driven, Westminster chime movement with an automatic shut-off option. It measures 84" high, 22 " wide and 13 " in diameter. An engraved brass nameplate is free with purchase. Also finished in Americana Cherry, the Grand Americana gallery clock boasts a simple design and an aged, antique dial with easy-to-read black Roman numerals. Measuring 30" in diameter, it has a quartz, battery-operated movement. The curvaceous Valencia banjo clock is richly carved and reveals a Southern European influence. It is finished in the deep Embassy Cherry on select hardwoods and veneers. Decorative overlays frame the brushed-brass pendulum and continue on the base. The ivory dial offers a convex glass crystal and black numerals and hands. A quartz dual chime movement plays a choice of Westminster or Ave Maria chimes. The Valencia also features volume control and automatic nighttime shut-off. It measures 35 " high, 11 " wide and 5" in diameter. Also finished in Embassy Cherry, the Embassy Curio is lightly distressed for a casual look. Rich carvings of ornate leaves with a shell at its center embellish the pediment. Fluted columns on either side of the front locking door include decorative carving to complement the pediment. The Embassy also offers halogen lighting and a mirrored back. An engraved brass plate is free with purchase and ensures accurate family records. The Embassy stands 84 " high, 36 " wide and 14 " in diameter. –
Mission Style: With its simple, rectilinear lines, functional, uncluttered design and unpretentious materials, the Mission Collection from Howard Miller is an authentic interpretation of the Mission Style, the American offshoot of the British Arts and Crafts Movement. Mission is currently one of the hottest trends at retail.
Consisting of a grandfather clock finished in a new Mission Oak dark finish and two wall clocks, one in the same dark finish and the other in a light oak finish, the collection boasts unadorned dials framed by wooden moldings and antiqued, brushed-brass pendulums accented by wooden reeded grilles on the glass doors. Named in honor of Scottish architect and furniture designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the Mackintosh collectors cabinet is new this year. Finished in the Mission Oak dark, the cabinet features halogen lighting and a glass mirrored back for optimal viewing and glass shelves with unlimited levels of adjustment. New patent-pending cushioned metal shelf clips are equipped with an additional metal stabilizer to provide extra security for the shelves. An easy-to-reach on/off switch is located at the back of the cabinet. Another patent-pending design – locking side doors unrivalled in the industry – protects collectibles. The Mackintosh measures 80 " high, 40" wide and 14 " deep. Also new, the Mission mantel clock showcases the same handcrafted, honest design as the other pieces and the dark finish.
In the Shaker Tradition: The Pleasant Hill Grandfather: The latest addition to the Shaker Village Collection, the Pleasant Hill grandfather boasts a Shaker Cherry finish and the spare elegance and functionality for which this historic American furniture is known. American folk art country scenes accent the moon phase of the clock. The soft, aged dial features black Roman numerals and hands, and a subtle, round window on the locking door offers a moment's glance at the antique pendulum inside. The base conceals two specially hidden storage areas.
The cable-driven, Westminster chime movement features automatic nighttime shut-off. The clock measures 78" high, 17" wide and 12" deep and also comes with a free engraved brass plate.
Casual Contemporary: The simple, clean lines, natural finishes and nickel hardware of Howard Miller's Urban Collection were first popularized in store fixtures at Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn. This Casual Contemporary look now rivals the Mission/Arts and Crafts Style for hottest trend. The Urban Collection consists of grandfather, wall and mantel clocks. All feature flat-topped pediments with nickel-finished moldings and the same Urban Casual finish. Their white dials showcase nickel-finished bezels, hour markers and hands styled in the simplest way. The Urban Wall also features a plain coordinating pendulum. Both the wall and mantel clocks offer quartz dual chime movements that play a choice of Westminster or Bim Bam chimes. Both also feature volume control and an automatic nighttime shut-off option. The Urban Grandfather is distinguished by a cable-driven, Westminster chime Kieninger movement. Its simple nickel-finished pendulum and weights are visible through the beveled-glass, front-locking door. The clock is 78 " high, 22" wide and 14" deep. An engraved brass nameplate is free with purchase.
