Circle Furniture and foam ingredient supplier BiOH® Polyols teamed up to educate consumers about sustainable furnishings options. Approximately 5,500 eco-conscious shoppers attended the second annual Down:2:Earth sustainable expo here, to interface with exhibitors over the weekend.
Circle Furniture participated last year. The Boston-based home furnishings retailer carries a variety of wood and upholstery products with environmental claims. BiOH Polyols are soy-based components replacing a portion of petroleum-based components in foam, which is used for upholstered seat cushions and mattresses in LEE, American Leather, and C.R. Laine furniture brands sold through Circle.
“At Circle Furniture, we look for manufacturers and suppliers that share our commitment to the environment,” said Peggy Burns, owner. “We wanted to participate in D2E to get in front of the consumer who wants to align their dollars with affecting environmental change.”
"What surprised me the most in my conversations with consumers at d2e was their genuine interest in finding out exactly how their furniture is made,” said Leslie Carothers, principle of the Kaleidoscope Partnership and social media strategist representing BiOH. “The more documentation companies provided, the better.”
BiOH’s participation in the consumer event reflects the brand’s strategy to focus on education. “BiOH has gone to significant lengths to provide third party documentation which these consumers appreciated,” added Carothers.
Circle and BiOH Polyols business provided information and resources directly to consumers eager to learn more about the sustainable movement among home furnishings companies.
