The non-profit Specialty Sleep Association (SSA) announced that Simmons Bedding Company (“Simmons”), one of the nation’s top bedding manufacturers, has joined the organization, which helps educate consumers, retailers and manufacturers on “The Future of Sleep.” Simmons, which manufactures both innerspring and specialty bedding products, is known for incorporating innovative technologies into its mattresses and is increasingly adding natural components to its bedding lines.
"The SSA is thrilled to welcome Simmons, one of the country’s top mattress manufacturers, to our organization,” said Dale Read, president. “Simmons is taking an active role in the SSA’s Green Initiative Conference on May 8 as Anne Kozel, specialty sleep brand director, Simmons, will address the attendees as part of a manufacturer’s panel focusing on ‘Defining the ‘Green’ Issue --- What Direction are We Taking.’”
"We are very excited to join the Specialty Sleep Association and to help expand the awareness of the Specialty category,” said Scott Smalling, president of Simmons’ specialty products division. “Simmons is committed to this category with our ComforPedic® and Natural Care® brands, and we intend to continue to expand our offerings to meet the ever changing needs of today’s educated customers."
The Specialty Sleep Association (SSA) Green Initiative conference takes place on May 8 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, Bonita Springs, Fla. The SSA Green Initiative is a process designed to identify, define and standardize how mattress manufacturers and retailers label “green” and natural sleep products. The ultimate goal will be to create a certification program based on existing, accepted standards and to define terms such as "green,” “natural,” “all-natural” and “organic." Registration for the conference can be found at: http://www.sleepinformation.org/contactnew/GREEN.html.
