La-Z-Boy Incorporated announced personnel promotions at two of its key manufacturing plants. Dan Tice has been named vice president of La-Z-Boy Midwest, and Melvin T. (Tommy) Casey takes over as general manager of La-Z-Boy East. Both Tice and Casey are responsible for overseeing plant operations at their respective manufacturing facilities. Tice started his career with La-Z-Boy in 1972 as an upholsterer. Since then he has held positions in the La-Z-Boy time study department and the corporate headquarters' engineering department. In 1992, he returned to Neosho as second shift superintendent of the La-Z-Boy Midwest facility and was promoted to general manager in 1997. Tice continues to report directly to David A. Layman, vice president of manufacturing for the La-Z-Boy residential and contract divisions. He resides in Neosho with his wife and daughter. Casey's career with La-Z-Boy began in 1976 as human resource manager at the company's plant in Florence, S.C., a position he has held for the past 22 years. In his new position, Casey assumes responsibility for overseeing all plant operations at La-Z-Boy East; replacing Ernie Mather who recently retired. He also reports directly to Layman. Casey resides in Florence with his wife Pat. They have three children. "Dan and Tommy have tremendous knowledge and experience in plant operations and the manufacture of La-Z-Boy upholstery," said Layman. "They have shown impressive dedication and professionalism throughout their years with us, and we are confident in their abilities to lead our Neosho and Florence plants into the next century." Headquartered in Monroe, La-Z-Boy is the nation's largest manufacturer of upholstered furniture and the world's leading producer of reclining chairs.
