Libby Langdon To Host 21st American Furniture Hall of Fame Induction Banquet

HGTV personality, interior designer, style maven, and author Libby Langdon will host the 21st American Furniture Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on October 18, 2009, at the High Point Market.   

“When we approached Libby about headlining our Banquet, she instantly agreed.  We know she will bring much enthusiasm and life to our event because that is what Libby Langdon is all about,” says Don Belgrad, Foundation president.  “Having grown up in the industry, she is passionate about home furnishings and preserving our history.” 

“I am honored to host this memorable event to celebrate the accomplishments of the visionaries in one of the premier industries in America,” Langdon says. “As a fellow member of this industry I have a deep appreciation for its rich history and I am thrilled to play a key role in this special evening.” 

Design guru & lifestyle enthusiast, Landon is best known as the expert commentator and leading designer for HGTV’s popular program Small Space, Big Style. Her new book, Libby Langdon’s Small Space Solutions offers her innovative and inexpensive design ideas to help small space dwellers live large.  She often pops up doing makeovers on shows such as The View, The Early Show, BetterTV, NBC's Open House and The Rachel Ray Show. Her designs have been featured on the covers of Hamptons Cottages and Gardens, New England Home and Decorating Spaces and she is a regular contributor and small space expert to Woman's Day, Budget Decorating, Better Homes and Gardens, Hamptons.com and Glamour as well as a regular contributor to the nation’s top daily newspapers with her design, entertaining and food ideas.  Langdon founded Libby Interiors Inc. in 2003 and has completed numerous commercial and residential design projects all over the country including the New York City restaurant, La Masseria, which was voted as one of the top ten new restaurants in the United States by Esquire.   

Honorees are the industry leaders who comprise this year’s roster of candidates:  Manuel Capó, Joseph F. Carroll, M. Farooq Kathwari, Steven M. Kincaid, J. Ralph Stump and Richard J. Udouj.  Those who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame will be announced during the banquet. 

The slate of candidates was selected from nominations by Foundation members. To make a nomination, members submitted a biography of 500 words or less that included detailed information about the nominee’s professional achievements, personal standards and civic involvement. Each nomination was then seconded in writing by another Foundation member. The voting period began July 1 and ended August 24.  

The celebration, which culminates with the announcement of new inductees, begins with cocktails at 6:00 p.m., followed by the gala dinner at 7:00 p.m.  It will be held in the International Home Furnishings Center ballroom. 

Banquet tickets are $95 each, and the reservation deadline is October 2.
