La-Z-Boy – a provider of comfort for the past 80 years, announced that it is is solidifying its position as a furniture innovator with new additions to its popular collections at the October 2009 High Point Furniture Market.
La-Z-Boy is expanding upon its product lines with the addition of power to its popular motion sofas. This Market also sees the introduction of new Lift chairs, select leathers and home theater offerings.
“Our Market introductions focus on offering our customers as much value as possible in every category,” said Paula Hoyas, vice president of upholstery merchandising for La-Z-Boy. “We have innovative and comfortable new products that will benefit all of our upholstery collections.”
- Power – La-Z-Boy is powering up its motion sofas this Market. Motion furniture already is a big draw with consumers, and now new introductions including “Griffin” and “Braden” will be available with the power option. This innovative concept features a motorized reclining mechanism that allows for infinite back and leg positions and truly customized relaxation.
“The La-Z-Boy power option represents the ultimate in comfort for recliners, and now for our motion sofas, too,” said Hoyas. “The convenient wand gives the user complete control over the pitch of the recline and the lift of the footrest, meaning he or she can recline as much or as little as desired.”
In addition, the company is introducing three new recliners to its Luxury Lift™ collection, all with a “box-within-a-box” construction which offers a more discreet lift mechanism as well as industry-exclusive safety advantages unique to the Lift chair market.
“Our ‘box-within-a-box’ Luxury Lift recliners are an innovative refresher to this
category,” said Hoyas. “These Lift chairs bring assistance and independence in
an inconspicuous fashion to all consumers who require a little extra help with
everyday functions.”
- Home Theater – Consumers are enjoying more movie nights at home, and home theater seating can help make everyone more comfortable. “Legend” joins the home theater group this Market to expand La-Z-Boy offerings in this category. Inspired by the popular La-Z-Boy recliner, “Legend” offers power features for customized comfort and infinite reclining positions, as well as shaped bucket-style seating, a tall back and head support while reclining. To increase the group’s versatility, a corner and wedge console is available, allowing “Legend” to be configured either as a home theater group or traditional modular sectional.
- Signature Leather – Leather provides countless décor options, as well as comfort and timeless appeal. This Market, La-Z-Boy expands upon its Signature Leather offerings with new frames in every style: traditional “Bradford,” transitional “Nathan,” and contemporary “Avery.”
“Each of these styles fulfills a specific niche for our customers,” said Hoyas. “These three styles will freshen up our Signature Leather line.”
- Stationary Furniture – This Market introduces the “Veranda” sofa, which features a tight-rolled camel back, a softly scalloped front rail, scoop arm posts and spindle legs, to the company’s popular Premier collection. The Premier line of stationary furniture offers exclusive “high end” features, but not “high end” prices, including the ComfortCore™ cushions, designed with four different foam densities appropriately distributed to provide the best comfort and support level for different areas of the seats.
Another stationary introduction, “Metro,” offers an updated casual-contemporary look at an opening price point. The style features decorative wood legs and an attention-getting design.
“‘Metro’ is a stunning sofa that will appeal to those who still want big comfort in a smaller living area,” said Hoyas. “The introduction of ‘Metro’ reflects the trend for smaller-scale furniture that is functional, attractive and, of course, comfortable.”
- Recliners and Motion – La-Z-Boy continues to add to its recliner collection with four new recliner introductions in a variety of shapes, styles and frames. Highlights include “Chill,” a traditional recliner with a cooler built into one arm, and “Joshua,” an opening price point chaise recliner with updated styling and a slightly larger scale.
Another motion introduction is “Braden,” which seeks to strengthen the recliner and motion line with its plush, large scale and unique detailing. Offered in Ultra Plush construction and a wide “T” chaise, “Braden” offers a necessary mid-range price point in the motion category and brings differentiation to the line.
