After fifteen years as acting chief executive officer, Brett Hatton, founder of Four Hands, announced that he has named president Matthew Briggs as president and chief executive officer of the global manufacturer. Hatton will serve as chairman of the board and founder for Four Hands.
Briggs joined the Four Hands team as director of operations in the fall of 2001, and quickly propelled himself through the ranks to COO in 2003, vice president in 2005 and president in 2007. Briggs previously owned and operated a successful home furnishings retail store in Breckenridge, Colo., which partnered with Four Hands as a top retailer. The sale of the store in late 2001 presented Hatton with the opportunity to hire the successful retailer at Four Hands.
“I first met Matthew 15 years ago when he was a client and I learned of his formidable negotiation skills from wrong side of the table. Since he joined Four Hands nine yrs ago, we have both learned about each other, the business and the industry. It has been a joy ride to grow the company together and I have no doubt he will continue driving Four Hands in the right direction and I am delighted for the both of us what this opportunity in changing roles presents” said Hatton.
