Gus* Design Group, a Canadian modern furniture design and manufacturing company, announced that it has begun manufacturing all upholstered seating with FSC-certified wood, sourced from responsibly managed forests.  The announcement coincides with the introduction of 34 new in-stock product options at the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina.

“Gus* has chosen to take a leadership role in the modern furniture industry”, said Amanda Schuler, VP of Sales & Marketing at Gus*. “We’ve been working with our factories and suppliers to create modern furniture options that support responsible forestry and sustainable practices.”

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a certification system that provides internationally recognized standard-setting, trademark assurance and accreditation services to companies interested in responsible forestry.  The FSC label provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers to make purchasing decisions that benefit the environment.

Among the new 100% FSC-certified designs to be introduced at High Point is the GT Rocker (MSRP $1095), a modern rocking chair with a sleek, black metal base, and architecturally-styled cushions inspired by 70s car interiors.  Available in three in-stock fabrics.  The Richmond Sofa (MSRP $2195) and Richmond Chair (MSRP $1050), also FSC-certified, are new tuxedo-style upholstery frames with wood block feet.  The cushions contain waterfowl down fill and feature exposed French seams.  Available in two in-stock fabrics.

Also debuting at High Point is the new Truss Chair (MSRP $895) , which was inspired by the work of the Sarasota School of Architecture.  The Truss is a mid-century inspired accent chair with a solid natural oak frame that features finger joint construction.  This piece is at home in both modern and traditional spaces. In the accents category, Gus* is adding the Ossington Coffee Table (MSRP $895) and Ossington End Table (MSRP $445).  These pieces feature a walnut-ply top and a choice of stainless steel or black powder-coated base.  The look is minimal and utilitarian, contrasting the warm grain of the walnut with the cool steel. The Gladstone Dining Table (MSRP $1450) is a simple, modern harvest table with a walnut-veneer top and a stainless steel base.

The Gus* Modern furniture collection is designed in Canada under the direction of industrial designer David Podsiadlo, and is sold at over 150 retailers across North America. Gus* will be showing at the High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina from October 17 to 22.
