Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture announced that it recently donated 12 bedroom chests with matching nightstands to furnish the bedrooms of a newly-built 12-unit housing development in Lowell, MA for chronically homeless people. The formerly-homeless residents are expected to move in to their fully-equipped, large efficiency units by the end of November, where they will start the process of rebuilding their lives.

The $2 million housing development project was completed by Bridgewell, a private, non-profit organization that is a leading provider of services to adults with developmental and psychiatric disabilities in the Merrimack Valley and on the North Shore.  In addition to collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies, Bridgewell utilized multiple sources of funding and sought donations from the community at large, including Bernie & Phyl’s.

“We are honored to be a part of this community effort to help homeless individuals become active, contributing members of society,” said Larry Rubin, president of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture.  “We support the important work that Bridgewell does and are happy that we can do our part to make a difference.”
