Capel Rugs announced that Tami Watras has been named Director of Merchandising. Watras will be responsible for Capel's strategy and execution of merchandise selection, product development and procurement. In this newly created position, she will report directly to John Magee, President and CEO of Capel Rugs. Under the new structure, her direct reports will include Norm Sweeters, Managing Director of Imports, and Lou Webster, Director of Design and Product Development.
Watras joined Capel in 2006 as a merchandise manager and most recently served as the General Manager of the Retail Division. Prior to joining Capel, she held positions in merchandising, product development and sourcing for Ethan Allen, Amy Coe, and Lillian August Designs. She is a native of New York, and graduated from Fairfield University.
