Stanley Furniture announced that it has assigned Bob Harold to the new role of Vice President of Domestic Operations and promoted Larry Hagwood to Operations Manager for both the Stanleytown and Martinsville facilities.
These executives will be instrumental in helping Stanley impliment its restructuring plans and set a path toward profitability.
Bob joined Stanley in November of 2009. In his previous role, the Henry County native held responsibility for operations in the company’s two Virginia-based facilities. He will now be accountable for all domestic operations including the Robbinsville, N.C. facility - where the vast majority of the company’s Young America product line is manufactured -as well as all domestic purchasing efforts. "With the company’s restructuring underway, we need one person tying together all domestic efforts," said Glenn Prillaman, Stanley Furniture’s President & CEO. "Without a doubt, Bob Harold is the man for the job."
With a degree in Furniture Manufacturing & Management from North Carolina State University, Bob boasts more than 25 years of manufacturing experience in the residential wood furnishings industry. His career includes stints at American of Martinsville and Hooker Furniture, where he had ultimate responsibility over Hooker’s Roanoke facility.
In addition, company veteran Larry Hagwood will assume new responsibilities in the company’s restructuring plan. After joining Stanley Furniture’s marketing department in 1972, Larry’s role included working with showroom and photography samples. Over the past 38 years, Larry has held various positions of increasing responsibility including scheduling, engineering, sample production and manufacturing support. In October of 2008, Larry was promoted to his most recent position as Manufacturing Support Manager.
In his new role, Larry will work opposite Sam Grimes, VP of Operations – Robbinsville, heading up operations for the company’s Stanleytown and Martinsville facilities. "Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of working with Larry recognizes his overwhelmingly infectious ‘can do’ attitude," said Prillaman. "Larry is the right person at the right time for our Stanleytown and Martinsville facilities, and he is an excellent complement to Sam in Robbinsville."
Both Larry and Sam Grimes, as well as Peggy Krebser, Domestic Purchasing Manager, will report to Bob Harold. Bob will continue to report to President & CEO Glenn Prillaman.
"Stanley Furniture is in a state of transition," said Prillaman. "Now is the time for compassion, courage and confidence in the company’s plan to succeed. Our domestic operations team’s leadership must include supreme capability, problem solving skills and accountability. Bob Harold, Larry Hagwood and Sam Grimes lead the way with all of these traits."
"In the face of so many losing their jobs as the company has downsized and will continue to reorganize for the remainder of the year, I am proud to see so many step up their efforts to find a way to execute day-in and day-out at the operations level of our business," Prillaman goes on to say. "Domestic wood furniture manufacturing is extremely hard and very competitive as imports continue to get better. Stanley is one of the few companies that can still differentiate from its competitors through domestic operations efforts. Bob and Larry, along with Sam, understand that as well as any. I am very fortunate to have them leading our associates, and I believe in their capabilities."
