Wiseway Transportation Services Helps To Distribute Furniture To Needy Families

Wiseway Transportation Services  reported that In 2010 it provided transportation charitable support to Bridging Inc., in the collection of enough items to completely furnish the homes of more than 50 families.  Without the support of the Wiseway team, this could not have been possible.

Bridging Inc. coordinates large furniture collection drives with local churches, civic groups, and other organizations.  These drives supplement the inventory of good used furniture to be distributed to needy families in the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area.  These families have suffered a personal, economic, or natural disaster and are in need of assistance from organizations like Bridging to gain stability in their lives.
 
Typically, a truck or trailer is transported to a selected site in smaller neighborhoods or communities and local residents are encouraged to bring their gently used furniture and household items to be loaded on the trailers by volunteers and transported back to one of Bridging’s warehouses.  Within days after the completion of the projects, most of the furniture finds its way into the homes of Bridging’s clients.
 
Every year, more than 5,000 families come to Bridging for assistance.  The vast majority are households with children who are living on less than $15,000 per year.  Through strong partnerships with companies like Wiseway, Bridging has been able to make houses into homes for the past 23 years.
