The Furniture Bank of Houston announced that it is organizing a fund raising event, the Furniture, Arts & Decor Expo to to benefit the organization.
"This is a unique event that will bring together many people in the home furnishing, arts and interior design communities" said Oli Mohammed, Executive Director and founder of the organization that has provided more than 18,000 families with household goods. The highlight of the expo will be an auction of beautiful pieces of art created from recycled chairs from the furniture bank. The event will give both furniture vendors and artists the opportunity to come together and market their products."
Already 80 art chairs are being created in advace of the auction (see before and after photos below). Mr. Mohammed anticipates that there will be over 100 exhibits in the various areas that encompass the Expo which will serve to increase community awareness of the Furniture Bank of Houston, an organization that supports 72 partner agencies. The monies raised from this event will help to fund both the Furniture Bank and its partner agencies.
Additional exhibits of art, furniture, décor, entertainment, demonstrations and much more will contribute to create a fun family-friendly day for people in the Houston area. Retailers, crafts people, artists and other businesses that participate by renting space at the Expo will have a rare oppotunity to get exposure for their products and services, make sales, and support a worthwhile cause.
The Furniture Bank has a long history of helping people in need to turn their empty living spaces into homes.

"The Art Chair Auction will take place at 5:30 on August 28th. Local and national artists, designers, celebrities, organizations, companies and partner charity agencies will donate their talents to turn the chair pieces into unique Art Furniture. These incredible artistic designs will be then auctioned at the Expo, with one hundred percent of the auction proceeds going to support the Furniture Bank and its associate agencies.
