Jordan’s Furniture of Avon, MA has selected Hookumu Incorporated of Salem, NH to design and develop a unique and comprehensive room planning tool. Jordan’s Room Planner will be based on Hookumu’s PlanEngine technology, and will allow customers to easily plan rooms online without the need for complex software. The Room Planner will be available to customers and Jordan’s Sales Consultants on its Website www.jordans.com that provides hundreds of photos, specifications and design tips. In addition to being a tremendous resource for customers, the Room Planner also has a unique Analyzer feature. It will provide alerts if it senses that various configurations might warrant further review. “We see the Room Planner as a great tool to help customers choose the right amount of furniture for their space. We think it should increase sales and reduce ‘no-fits’ at the same time,” says Merchandise Strategy Manager Josh Tatelman. “We are always looking for new ways to provide better services and become more efficient at the same time.” Hookumu President Steve Street notes, “We are honored to be selected by Jordan’s to design and develop this important customer experience tool. Jordan’s Room Planner will encourage multi-piece and whole room purchases and it is easy to use. It’s a win-win situation – customers will enjoy their online experience, it will make their furniture selection easier and Jordan’s will be able to serve more customers”. Launch of Jordan’s Room Planner is planned for early 2nd Quarter 2003. Jordan’s Furniture was incorporated by Samuel Tatelman in 1928. In the early 70's, Barry and Eliot Tatelman took over the business bringing it from a company of eight employees to now over 1200. Barry and Eliot sold the company to Berkshire Hathaway Inc. in October 1999. With four stores and headquarters in Avon, MA, Jordan’s prides itself on providing quality products, services and a high degree of customer entertainment. The Avon location houses a 48-seat flight simulator movie theatre called Motion Odyssey Movie ride on a four-story high screen. The Natick store was chosen recently as the “Best Store in the Biz” by In Furniture Magazine. The customer experience features a walk on “Bourbon Street”, a Riverboat, a “Streetcar Named Dessert” and a 9-minute multimedia Mardi Gras F/X show. Jordan’s took entertainment to a new level by opening a 262-seat, six-story high screen, 3D theatre at the Natick store this year. The AT&T Broadband IMAX 3D theatre features both educational and entertainment-based films. Hookumu Incorporated is a privately held corporation specializing in Internet Design and Application Development. Headquartered in Salem NH, Hookumu Inc. www.hookumu.com was founded by an executive involved with technology development for the furniture industry.
