Kreber, a leading advertising, photographic and marketing services provider headquartered at 221 Swathmore Avenue in High Point, announced their purchase of Furniture City Color located at 4045 Premier Drive in High Point. Furniture City Color is a leader in prepress services, data management and web design and development services.
The transaction, at an undisclosed price, brings together two well-respected companies with complimentary services and marks another chapter of strategic growth in the history of 105-year-old Kreber.
The announcement was first made to Furniture City Color’s 15 employees who were cited by Kreber’s President Jack Kreber as one of the many reasons the purchase was so attractive. “For more than 38 years, Furniture City Color has had an excellent reputation in large part because of their highly skilled staff and superior customer service. We are pleased and honored to offer everyone continued employment with Kreber.” Although the name will change to reflect its new owner, the Furniture City Color facility will continue to operate business-as-usual and serve its customers from its Premier Drive location.
Bill Franklin, former owner and CEO of Furniture City Color, stated, “I look forward to working with the management team at Kreber while continuing to serve our valued customers. This opportunity allows us to offer ongoing, consistent quality production and superior services while joining forces with a much larger organization. We could not have found a better business partner to ensure our clients a seamless transition. It truly is a win-win for both companies and our clients.” With the transition Franklin becomes a senior executive consultant at Kreber.
Kreber’s acquisitions in the 1980s and 90s included Color Graphics, a prepress operation in High Point, and large photographic operations Norling Studios and Omega Studios in High Point. During the nearly 20 years that Jack and his brother Jim Kreber, CEO, have overseen Kreber, the services that it offers have grown significantly as technology has improved dramatically in the graphic services business. In the last decade Jack and Jim have led a purposeful shift to become an advertising and marketing focused creative, photography and technology company that today employs over 100 people between its Columbus, OH and High Point facilities. In acquiring Furniture City Color, Kreber bolsters its interactive and web offerings.
Kreber currently calls some of the nation’s leading retailers and manufacturers customers, including: Lowe's, Sears, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, Dick's Sporting Goods, Havertys, Bassett Furniture and Lenovo. Furniture City Color’s client roster includes, among others, Bernhardt, Levolor, Outdura, and Rheem.
