North Entrance of the New Koelnmesse
Interzum is famous for setting the stage for new trends. The latest in designs, materials and functions shown in Cologne is certain to impact the entire furniture and interior design industry across the globe. The organizer has set aside a wing of its fairground called "Boulevard of Innovations" where new trends can be seen. "The Lightness of Design", dedicated to lightweight furniture will be sponsored by the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The exhibit will showcase innovative lightweight solutions used for kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms. Lightweight materials are obviously easy to transport, make deliveries more cost effective and are ideal for integrating electronic components. In the future, electronic pads in desktops will replace keyboards, monitors and speakes will be integrated into furniture or accessories.
Lightweight structures will translate into new design ideas lowering material costs and conserving resources. Attractive and functional lightweight furniture is becoming an economical alternative. Companies participating at the “Lightness of Design“ exhibit want to prove that intelligent lightweight structures are not just technically and economically viable but visually appealing as well.
"As organizers of interzum we try to present emerging trends from manufacturers in an appropriate setting. With the 'Boulevard of Innovations' and the 'Lightness of Design' booth, we can do so at the most prominent location in the exhibition centre," explains Frank Haubold, product manager of interzum.
Other highlights will be “Functional enhancement for textile materials“ and “lighting and innovative materials in architecture and design“.
