Twentieth Futon Expo in Philadelphia in 2004: The Celebration Is All In the Numbers

The numbers are very good for the Futon Association International as current Futon & Specialty Sleep Expo momentum energizes 2004 planning. The 2004 Futon & Specialty Sleep Expo, which will be the twentieth consecutive FAI sponsored show, will be held in Philadelphia, in the heart of the Northeast corridor. The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates that forty percent of the United States’ population is just a day’s drive from Philadelphia. Huge numbers of consumers and retail furniture stores, from Baltimore to Boston, are within easy travel distanceof the 2004 Futon & Specialty Sleep Expo. As part of its planning, FAI has recently committed additional political and financial resources to market, advertise and promote the 2004 Expo. As a result, Tom Tedesco, FAI President, expects attendance to set new records. “For the next three years,” says Tedesco, “It’s all in the numbers, numbers that continue to grow. Las Vegas in 2003 is a sellout. Philadelphia in 2004 looks very good already. And a return to Vegas in 2005 completes the trifecta.” Despite uncertainty, both political and economic, the futon category continues to grow.
