Mike Shabtai, owner and founder
of The Rug Market America
The Rug Market America announced that it has kicked off its 26th year in business with a brand new address and expanded footage to showcase its extensive lines of indoor and outdoor rugs. Headquartered in the Culver City area of Los Angeles, The Rug Market America's state-of-the-art corporate headquarters has opened to the trade and was recently the site for an anniversary celebration and showroom opening event.
"The offices are trendy, fashionable and architecturally pleasing," said Mike Shabtai, owner of The Rug Market America. "We now have ample room for showcasing our full product line to the trade and a sample gallery that will be a valuable tool for use by sales representatives and buyers alike." Shabtai began the business to show the floor covering industry that bold color and contemporary design was missing from their repertoire. With the new expanded showroom, his very successful design aesthetic will be out in full force.
It was 1985 when Mike Shabtai, owner and founder of The Rug Market America, started the company out of a traditional Oriental rug store that he previously owned in partnership with his brothers. Today, the company continues to be a family affair as Shabtai's sons, Aaron and Andrew, are both involved in the company in vice president positions.
Over two hundred buyers and representatives of The Rug Market America gathered at the new corporate facility that is located in a trendy office and dining area of Culver City to celebrate the opening and the debut of the new corporate headquarters. Positive feedback was received from all attending including industry representatives and buyers. The full array of rug lines on display included The Walt Disney Signature Collection, for whom The Rug Market America has represented for several years, as well as the expanded swatch program.
The company will also mark their anniversary year with a comprehensive catalog showcasing all current running line rugs and their latest introductions. This year also marks the opening of The Rug Market’s new showroom in Chicago's Merchandise Mart - Suite 15-117 to 15-119 and their return to a recently expanded showroom in Atlanta at AmericasMart's building 1 Suite 12-C- 1 in July’s rug show. "We are looking forward to seeing everyone at these showrooms during the upcoming markets," said Shabtai.
The Rug Market America's new introductions for 2012 will include designer lines as well as value rugs in their popular Ecconox line that was developed in response to requests from retailers and consumers during the economic slow-down.
