AmericasMart Atlanta announced that Robert D. Schuler has been appointed AMC officer in charge for all housing services, across all AmericasMart Atlanta markets and the AMC-managed LIGHTFAIR International trade show, according to Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., president and chief operating officer of AmericasMart Atlanta and its AMC, Inc. parent entity.
Schuler, who joined AmericasMart in June 2010 following his service as vice president/sales and director of the sales and services division at the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), directs the operation of The Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart, which secures and services conventions, conferences, meetings and special events staged in the 7.2 million-square-foot complexs exhibit halls, theatres and public spaces during non-market periods.
Schulers responsibilities now expand to encompass the provision of housing services to AmericasMart market attendees, who annually occupy as many as 247,000 Atlanta hotel room-nights, and to attendees of LIGHTFAIR International, which is staged annually as the worlds largest architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference in alternating east- and west-coast venues.
Of the many services we provide our legions of customers in Atlanta and beyond, convenient and accessible housing ranks as a huge factor driving overall satisfaction. Bobs expert leadership in anticipating growing customer demand for housing and securing accommodations with our hotelier partners here and in LIGHTFAIR destination cities makes all the difference in our customers market experience, adds Portman.
AmericasMart maintains relationships with more than 46 hotel properties housing customers attending its 13 annual markets and shows and non-market events and programs staged throughout the year. It is the citys single-largest source of hotel room occupancies. LIGHTFAIR International, for which AMC is managing partner, produces large room-night occupancies in Las Vegas and its eastern host cities, most recently in Philadelphia, where its 2011 edition delivered record attendance May 1519.
