Furniture Transport Group To Liquidate

The Business Journal (http://www.bizjournals.com)  reported t hat Furniture Transport Group, "will shutter its facilities in High Point and Lenoir and liquidate its assets. The closure could affect as many as 600 total employees."

Additional details were not immediately available, but the the cause given was unwillingness of senior lenders to provide additional financing.

Furniture Transport group was the largest specialty transporter of home furnishings in the U.S. providing state-of-the-art online and tracking technology, LTL and deconsolidation, dual coast warehouse and distribution facilities, light assembly capabilities, home delivery and best customer service practices. The company included the former Caldwell Freight and MGM Transport Companies.
