Globe Express Compliance With US Customs' Advanced Manifest Filing Requirement

Globe Express Services announced that it is fully compliant with U.S. Customs’ new 24-hour advanced manifest filing requirement. In meeting the December 2, 2002 deadline, the company rapidly and effectively deployed new software and operational processes making it among the first freight forwarders to transmit detailed manifest data directly to Customs. Customs’ 24-hour rule is a key component of the Container Security Initiative (CSI), a program designed to protect the United States and its containerized shipping sector from terrorists and weapons of mass destruction. Customs’ Advanced Manifest System (AMS) requires that ocean carriers (including NVOCCs) transmit manifest data 24-hours prior to loading vessels bound for the United States. Such details include: origin port, vessel name, carrier code, voyage number, U.S. E.T.A. first U.S. port of arrival, shipper/consignee names and addresses from all bills of lading and a "precise commodity description" of the cargo.
