Art Van Furniture announced that it will present "Christmas on Woodward Avenue" at its Woodward store in Royal Oak. There will be holiday treats, special offers and a free performance from singing sensation, Detroit's own Karen Newman.
Known as the voice of the Detroit Red Wings, Newman has delighted Metro Detroit audiences with her sultry vocals for more than a decade. Her exciting performances have been seen in everything from intimate, quaint clubs to packed sports arenas. She has been a back-up singer for Kid Rock and Bob Seger, and she's released four albums of her own, including a holiday album, "What Christmas Means to Me."
"Christmas is a very special time to me and I am so honored to be a part of the Art Van celebration," says Newman. "After all, who does the holidays better than Art Van?"
"Christmas on Woodward Avenue" preview event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011. Karen will also be signing autographs, following her performance. The Art Van Royal Oak store is located at 32301 N. Woodward Avenue. Newman will perform a number of holiday classics during a 45-minute performance, a teaser version of her more elaborate annual Karen Newman Holiday Show.
The Karen Newman Holiday Show will take place at the McMorran Place Sports Center in Port Huron on December 16; Andiamo Celebrity Showroom in Warren on December 18; and Fox Theatre in Detroit on December 21. Guests will be able to purchase tickets to the Fox Theatre performance at reduced rates.
