Indiana Furniture, a leading employer in Dubois County, Indiana announced that it will expand one of its Jasper plants, investing more than $6 million in 2012 and adding 10 jobs over the course of the next four years. Currently, the company employs 287 full-time employees in Indiana. The 30,000 square-foot addition to one of its existing manufacturing facilities is slated to be operational by the end of 2012.
Founded in 1905, in part as a response to the efforts of the Jasper Business Men’s Association’s initiative to provide local employment opportunities, the company now manufactures, sells, and distributes a complete line of executive office, conference, and seating products to the contract furniture industry.
“With our long heritage in the Jasper community, coupled with our Midwest values, it’s easy to call Dubois County our home,” said Bret Ackerman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Indiana Furniture. “We continue to focus sharply on the changing needs of our customers. Hiring and training talented people and heavy investment in state-of-the-art technology will allow us to deliver unique and innovative furniture solutions to our clients,” said Ackerman.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Indiana Furniture up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. Additionally, the city of Jasper approved economic development incentives in the way of property tax abatements.
“It’s particularly gratifying that our new property tax abatement program’s first recipient is an existing company,” said Jim Dinkle, president of the Dubois County Area Development Corporation. “Indiana Furniture is a century old company with deep roots in Dubois County.”
