Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture to Open New 34,000 Square Foot Store and Smaller Upscale “Metro Living” Concept Store in Natick

Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, one of the largest furniture retailers in New England, announced plans to open a new store in Natick, Massachusetts on Route 9. The company has purchased two buildings at the former Lexington Furniture site – a 34,000 square foot building and a 5,000 square foot building – where the company plans to open a large Bernie & Phyl’s showroom along with an upscale “Metro Living” concept store in the smaller building. The stores are expected to open in January 2012.
The company plans to do extensive renovations to the building including adding a new facade to the exterior. Beautiful architectural columns, colorful and warm-toned walls, and track lighting will be installed to create an elegant and inviting backdrop to the furniture.
The main store will feature a wide selection of furniture that Bernie & Phyl’s sells and its popular “Sleep Center” featuring an extensive line of Sealy Posturepedic, Stearns and Foster, and Bassett bedding. The new Metro Living store will feature higher end, but still value priced, contemporary leather and upholstery living room furniture. Bernie & Phyl’s added Metro Living sections in several of its stores a few years ago, but this will be the first time that the retailer has opened a stand-alone Metro Living store. Approximately 20 employees will be hired to staff the new stores.
